Brimstone moth.
Drinker.
Canary-shouldered Thorn.

With my family, I  have just spent a week at Llandigige Fawr, which is a farm a few miles outside St. David’s, in Pembrokeshire. I took my moth-trap with me and left it out several times to see what is around on the farm.

A number of species which are normally found in my own garden were caught but there was a difference in the balance. For example, I trapped only a few Large Yellow Underwings. The most numerous species trapped were Flame Shoulder and Setaceous Hebrew Character.

Species not seen at home in Hemsworth were Drinker, Canary-shouldered Thorn and Early Thorn. Each of these species appeared in the trap regularly, until  the cold Pembrokeshire winds  returned to normal and reduced the catch drastically.

An attractive species which turned up on one occasion was the Gold Spot. I have seen this species in my garden but came across it in the greenhouse rather than in the moth-trap.
